Wet vacuums are used to collect water from carpets floors and hard surfaces where water intrusion has built up. A wet Vacuum is only used when materials are still wet.
Mold spores can be dispersed into the air and can cause allergic symptoms whether the mold spores are dead or alive. Mold can generally be cleaned up on hard surfaces water or a detergent solution to wipe and/or scrub after wiping the surface we make sure that it is dried completely so that it will discourage any future mold growth. Porous surfaces (drywall) that are wet and have mold growth may have to be discarded. We try to salvage as much as possible but when necessary some materials have to be contained and properly disposed.
The High–Efficiency Particulate Air Vacuum, is capable of trapping extremely small, micro-sized particles so that they do not become airborne. It is used for final clean up of dried uncontaminated materials. AirCare Hawaii also uses a HEPA vacuum for environmental cleaning of dust and debris.
Discarding damaged materials that are not salvageable and put into sealed plastic bags, which is properly disposed. Putting damaged and mold contaminated materials in sealed plastic bags is important because it minimizes any exposure.
